From percussion massage guns through to vibrating recovery tools, they’re commonly used to help manage muscle tightness, reduce post-training soreness and support recovery between sessions.

Massage tools are widely used in strength training, functional fitness, rehabilitation and high-performance sport, particularly for areas that can be difficult to target effectively with stretching or foam rolling alone.Little Bloke Fitness has been supplying strength and recovery equipment to Australian gyms, athletes and training facilities since 2009. Why use a percussion massage tool?

Percussion massage tools are designed to provide fast, targeted muscle treatment using rapid repetitive movement and vibration.

They’re commonly used before training to help loosen tight muscles and increase movement, or after training to help manage soreness and stiffness from lifting, conditioning or sport.

Compared with foam rolling alone, percussion tools make it easier to target specific muscle groups and harder-to-reach areas.

Massage tools are commonly used for:

    • Managing muscle tightness and stiffness

    • Recovery between training sessions

    • Warm-ups and movement preparation

    • Targeted treatment of specific muscle groups

    • Post-training recovery work

    Our massage tool range

The most compact Theragun model - lightweight, portable and powerful enough for targeted relief on the go. Ideal for gym bags, travel and quick between-session recovery. Features Theragun's QuietForce technology and 3 speeds.

    Theragun Prime

A full-featured percussion massage gun with Bluetooth connectivity, 5 built-in speeds and a rotating arm for hard-to-reach areas. The Prime delivers 16mm amplitude and 40lbs of force - enough for effective treatment on even the largest muscle groups. A popular choice for serious home gym users.

    Theragun Elite

Premium performance with an OLED screen, customisable speed range (1750-2400 PPM) and Therabody app integration. The Elite offers the same 16mm amplitude as the Prime with a quieter motor and enhanced ergonomics for longer use sessions.

Theragun's flagship professional model. Features a rotating arm, two interchangeable batteries, OLED screen and 16mm amplitude with up to 60lbs of force. Used by professional sports teams and physiotherapists. The PRO is the right choice for high-frequency users and commercial applications.

Trigger Point Nano and MB VIBE

    Choosing the right massage tool

Theragun Mini vs. Prime vs. Elite vs. PRO

The Mini is best for portability and light daily use.

The Prime covers most needs for serious recreational athletes - it has the full 16mm amplitude and is our most popular Theragun model.

The Elite adds app connectivity and a quieter motor.

The PRO is for professional, high-frequency or commercial use.

Percussive guns vs. vibrating massage balls

Percussion massage guns are more versatile across larger muscle groups and general recovery work.

Vibrating massage balls are better suited to smaller or more targeted areas such as feet, glutes and upper back mobility work.

Many people use both as part of a broader recovery setup.

    Massage Tools FAQs

A foam roller uses your bodyweight to apply pressure across a muscle surface.

A Theragun delivers rapid percussive strokes directly into the muscle at high frequency and depth, producing faster and more targeted results. Theraguns also reach areas that are awkward or impossible to foam roll, such as the traps and neck.

The Theragun Prime is the best all-round option for most people - it has the full 16mm amplitude and rotating arm at a mid-range price.

The Mini is better if portability is your priority. If you want the full suite of features and use it frequently, consider the Elite.

The PRO is best for professional or commercial use.

Yes - daily use is fine for most people. Use it for 2 minutes per muscle group. Avoid using it directly on joints, bones, inflamed tissue or open wounds. Theragun recommends not using it on the same area for more than 2 minutes per session.

For people who train regularly, the answer is yes. Quality massage tools for muscle pain relief have strong evidence behind them for reducing DOMS, improving range of motion and accelerating recovery. Many users report being able to train harder and more frequently once they add a Theragun to their routine.
