Massage balls

11 products

Massage balls are compact, targeted recovery tools designed to release trigger points, break up muscle knots and improve tissue quality in areas that a foam roller cannot easily reach, like glutes, feet, shoulders, chest and around the shoulder blades.

By applying focused pressure to specific areas, massage balls can help reduce muscle tightness, improve mobility and support recovery after training.

Little Bloke Fitness has been supplying strength and recovery equipment to Australian gyms and athletes since 2009. Our massage ball range includes options from 360 Strength, Trigger Point and Rumble Roller - from smooth lacrosse balls and spiky massage balls to double lacrosse balls and cork options.

If you're unsure which massage ball is right for your recovery setup, our team can help.

    Why use a massage ball?

A massage ball lets you apply precise, concentrated pressure to a specific muscle or trigger point - much more targeted than a foam roller.

Because the pressure is more focussed, massage balls are commonly used for glutes, feet, shoulders, chest, hip flexors and around the shoulder blades. They’re popular for mobility work, recovery sessions and managing muscle tightness after training.

Massage balls are commonly used for:

    • Plantar fascia and foot arch release

    • Glute and piriformis trigger point work

    • Thoracic spine and shoulder blade release (placed against a wall)

    • Pec minor and chest release

    • Hip flexor and TFL release

    • Between-set recovery to maintain tissue quality during training

Features of our massage ball range

Our massage ball range includes a variety of shapes, textures and firmness levels suited to different recovery styles.

    Key features include:

    • Firm to extra-firm densities for effective trigger point release

    • Smooth lacrosse ball style for consistent all-over pressure

    • Spiky and nodded surfaces for enhanced circulation and deeper stimulation

    • Double lacrosse ball (peanut) design for spinal release along either side of the vertebrae

    • Cork options - naturally antimicrobial, sustainable and chemical-free

    • Compact and portable - use at home, at the gym, at work or travelling

    Types of massage balls

    Lacrosse massage balls

The classic choice - a firm, smooth rubber ball that provides consistent, deep pressure. The 360 Strength Lacrosse Massage Ball range is extremely popular due to its durability and versatility. Ideal for most trigger point work.

    Spiky massage balls

A spiky massage ball features raised spikes or nodes that stimulate circulation and provide a different sensation to smooth balls. Good for foot rolling and areas where you want more surface stimulation rather than deep point pressure.

    Double lacrosse balls (peanut)

Two lacrosse balls fused together in a peanut shape, designed to be placed along either side of the spine for targeted thoracic release without direct spinal pressure. The 360 Strength Double Lacrosse Massage Ball is a favourite for upper back and neck work.

    Cork massage balls

Made from natural cork - antimicrobial, eco-friendly and slightly softer than a standard lacrosse ball. A great natural alternative, particularly for those who prefer sustainable gym equipment.

    Beastie Ball by Rumble Roller

A uniquely designed massage ball with firm rubber nodules that provide deep, targeted tissue work. Available in original (medium) and firm densities, with a base stand for added stability when working on the floor.

    Choosing the right massage ball

    Smooth vs. spiky

Smooth balls (lacrosse style) are better for deep, sustained pressure on trigger points.

A spiky massage ball is better for stimulating blood flow and surface-level release. Many people own both and use them for different purposes.

    Firmness

A standard lacrosse ball is firm but manageable for most people. The Beastie Ball (firm) and Trigger Point products are designed for deeper, more intense work. Start with a standard lacrosse ball if you are new to massage balls.

All firmness levels can be used by beginners and experienced users alike - the best option usually comes down to personal preference and how much pressure you prefer during recovery work.

    Single vs. double

A single ball gives you flexibility to work any body part.

A double (peanut) ball is specifically designed for spinal release. If you suffer from thoracic tightness or neck stiffness, a double ball is a valuable addition.

    Massage Ball FAQs

A foam roller covers a larger surface area and is better for rolling out long muscles like the quads, hamstrings and calves.

A massage ball provides more concentrated, pinpoint pressure and is better for working on specific trigger points and smaller or harder-to-reach areas like the glutes, feet, shoulders and upper back.

Sit on the floor with your knees bent. Place the massage ball under one glute. Lean your weight onto the ball and slowly shift side to side or back and forth to find tight spots. When you find a tender point, hold for 20-30 seconds until you feel the tension release. Repeat on the other side.

Yes - foot rolling is one of the most popular uses for massage balls, especially for plantar fasciitis relief. Stand or sit, place the ball under your foot and roll slowly from heel to toe, pausing on any tender spots.

Not necessarily - they serve different purposes. Spiky balls provide more stimulation and are great for foot rolling and general circulation. Smooth lacrosse-style balls provide deeper, more controlled pressure for trigger point release. The best choice depends on what you are trying to achieve.

The Beastie Ball is a massage ball by Rumble Roller, designed with firm rubber nodules across its surface. It provides more intense, targeted release than a standard lacrosse ball and comes with a base stand for stability. Available in original (medium firm) and firm densities.
